Equipment Refurbishment

Extend the life of critical assets instead of replacing them.

Replacing a major piece of equipment is expensive, slow and often unnecessary. ShipSmith refurbishes critical onboard assets - pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, separators, motors, valves and more - back to reliable service, and holds refurbished units ready for exchange when downtime cannot wait. Each unit is stripped, inspected against OEM limits, repaired or re-machined, fitted with new wear parts and seals, then function-tested before return. We offer both refurbishment of the owner’s own equipment and supply of pre-refurbished exchange units, giving a cost-effective, faster alternative to new while restoring genuine reliability.

How it works

A clear, four-step path

One accountable partner from first assessment to documented handover.

  1. Assess

The unit is inspected and measured to confirm what can be restored and what must be renewed.

  2. Refurbish

Worn components are re-machined or replaced and the unit is rebuilt to OEM specification.

  3. Test & return

The refurbished unit is performance-tested and returned with a full report, or supplied as an exchange unit.

  4. Reinstate & document

The unit is reinstated and proven in service, with the refurbishment report listing replaced parts, readings and results handed to the vessel.
